Farmers and small businesses are the lifeblood of Tappahannock and Essex County—that’s why RivahFest 2010 has designated special areas for each group to display their produce, products and services. “Farmer’s Market and Merchant’s Row will show RivahFest visitors what’s great about our community,” said area chair Len Stewart. “It’s a showcase for local growers, non-profit organizations, businesses and professionals.”
Displays at the market include tractors and mowers from Haynes and Miller Outdoors; demonstrations by the Virginia Department of Forestry and Greyhound Pets of America; plus vendors selling baked goods, herbs and plants, pet treats and supplies, and honey. Co-chair Len Stewart hope to secure additional purveyors of fruits, vegetables, flowers and plants by the end of the month, and encourage farmers and growers to participate.New this year, Merchant’s Row is a special section for businesses and non-profits that do not fall into the Arts and Antiques or Farmer’s Market categories. Shoppers will find sunrooms, banking, women’s clothing, “Pampered Chef” kitchenware, broadband Internet and massage therapy services on display. In addition, there will be informational tables from local political parties, “The Haven” Women’s Shelter and Habitat for Humanity, plus a canine demonstration by the Haynesville Correctional Center. “Merchant’s Row is an easy and inexpensive way to raise the visibility of your business and generate follow-up calls,” said Stewart, “It’s particularly suitable for those who offer personal-sales products like cosmetics, and services like real estate or insurance.” Farmer’s Market and Merchant’s Row information and vendor applications are available by calling Len Stewart at 888-973-4443 or go to the download page for applications. |
