Treasures of Tappahannock House Tour
Two tours: 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.
The Tappahannock Historic Town Walking Tour is designed to take you back to the 17th, 18th and 19th century buildings all located within 3 blocks of one another in the central downtown area.
Priscilla Vaughan (Essex County Museum), George Jennings (Emerson's Ordinary) and Alex Dillard (Ritchie House) are your guides through the 300+ years of Tappahannock History. The Tour will walk around the downtown 13 historical buildings and visit 4 outstanding buildings, including the Ritchie House (1706), Emerson's Ordinary / Henley House (1710), Brockenbrough House (1763) and the Roane-Wright-Trible House (1850). Three of these houses have been through considerable recent restoration and the Henley House is currently under restoration.
A nomimal fee of $3 covers the tour guides, an oversize guide card featuring all 13 houses, and cookies and refreshments in the Brockenbrough House.
Tours will start at 11 am and again at 3 pm for this very special experience that is only available under the auspices of Rivahfest once every year.
